Upon ordering tefillin please be prepared to provide us with the following information:

  1. Are you right or left handed? (The tefillin will be worn on the opposite, weaker arm. For example, if you are right handed the tefillin will be made to wear on the left arm as in the sample on the right side.)
  2. Do you wrap the arm tefillin according to the Ashkenaz custom (inwardly/counter-clockwise) or the Sephardic/Chassidic custom (outwardly/clockwise)?
Ashkenaz custom Sephardic/ Chassidic custom
  1. Should the knot on the head tefillin be a square shape

or the shape of the Hebrew letter Dalet?

If you are uncertain of the correct custom please consult your rabbi. When a custom can't be established we make the arm tefillin according to Ashkenaz custom, unless you are a Sephardic Jew, and will make the head knot in the shape of a Dalet.

Please note: If you are ambidextrous then you are considered right handed for tefillin and wear the tefillin on your left arm. If you write with one hand and do other activities with the other hand please consult your rabbi (if you haven't already) to find out if you are considered right or left handed for the purpose of donning tefillin. If you are unable to consult a rabbi please provide us with the details and we will consult our rabbinical authority on your behalf.
